Remembrance Sunday 2016

13th November 2016 will see us gathering at Coopers Lane, Smethwick Labour Club to begin the walk together at 10.35am to the Cenotaph for the act of remembrance. This year hundreds of school children and their families are specially invited to join the procession with all children attending getting a certificate of attendance and wristband. we want to encourage a new generation to realise the importance of remembrance and working for peace as one of the huge lessons of war.

We at Holy Trinity value hugely the work and hospitality of Smethwick Labour Club, local councillors, schools and all who will work together for this special day.

Priest Killed in Normandy

As the news comes in of the murder of a priest in Normandy I want to join with many others in both condemning this barbarity alongside recent horrendous events in Nice and Germany.

I am daily thankful for the peaceful co-existence and friendship between faith leaders and communities in wider Sandwell and here in Smethwick. The simple act of eating together has brought together leaders of different faiths in an act of common humanity. In this way over the last eight months people who did not know each other have discovered friendship, stories of faith and humanity and common bonds played out in what it is to be neighbour to one another.

We pray for the people of France as we pray for one another here in Smethwick and Sandwell.
