A Night of Celebration

Heavy Snow and a Marvellous Evening!

On Sunday 20th January 2013 Holy Trinity Smethwick was the venue for a special service to mark:

  • The 175th Anniversary of a church on this site;
  • The historic and current link between this church and the civic life of the town of Smethwick and Borough of Sandwell;
  • The 1st Birthday of the Smethwick Foodbank;
  • The 2013 Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

A strong congregation who had braved the heavy snow welcomed the biggest ever gathering of church leaders from Smethwick, The Mayor and Mayoress of Sandwell, Councillor Keith Davies and Councillor Pat Davies, the Deputy Mayor and Deputy Mayoress of Sandwell, Councillor Victor Silvester and Mrs Carole Silvester. Marvellous food followed a fine service and rounded of a wonderful evening.

My sincere thanks  to all who made the evening possible in preparing the church, coming to the service in very difficult circumstances and serving such a feast for all afterwards. We who worship at Holy Trinity Smethwick today stand in a long line of those who have faithfully worshipped in this place. In that knowledge we make our prayer for this place and for our future ministry.

Revd David Gould
